Starbucks' Story. Starbucks was founded in Seattle's Pike Place Market. Starbucks was a small storefront that sold the finest whole-roasted coffees. Inspired by Moby Dick, the name of Starbucks evokes the romance and seafaring traditions of early coffee traders. Howard Schultz, the Starbucks chief executive officer and chairman in 1981, had his first visit to a Starbucks location.

Howard joined Starbucks a year after his first Sumatra cup. Howard visited Italy in 1983 and fell in love with the Italian coffee shops and the romanticism of coffee. Howard had the vision of bringing the Italian tradition of coffeehouses back to America. It is a place to meet and have a good time.

It's a third space between home and work. After a brief time leaving Starbucks, he returned to buy Starbucks in August 1987 with help from local investors. Starbucks was a new kind of business from the start. Starbucks was a company that celebrated the rich traditions of coffee, and that brought people together.

Starbucks Philippines in December 1997. The Philippines was the first country to experience the Starbucks Experience. It opened its first branch in Makati City's 6750 Ayala Building. Since then, Starbucks has won over the hearts of Filipinos.

Opening the 6750 Ayala shop marked a significant milestone in Starbucks' history. The Philippines was the third country to open outside of North America. Starbucks Coffee is a perfect fit for the Filipino culture because of their tradition of warmth, love for coffee, and constant need to connect. Starbucks Coffee is more than just coffee.
