The 11th Airborne Division, US Army parachuted onto Tagaytay Ridge in February 1945 to aid in liberating Manila.

From 1956 to 1964, Tagaytay was promoted as a popular tourist spot in the Philippines. The city's most prominent attraction is Taal Vista Lodge. A young man was one of many frequent visitors to the hotel. He often selected a spot on the grounds where he could gaze out at the stars and dreams.

Henry Sy, a representative of SM Investments Corporation who would eventually acquire Taal Vista Hotel.
